Queuing System and Performance of Guaranty Trust Bank Nigeria Plc, Ekpoma, Edo State (Published)
The broad objective of this paper is to determine the effect of queuing system analysis on performance of Guaranty Trust Bank Nigeria Plc, Ekpoma, Edo state. Specifically, this paper seeks to examine the effect of system (facility) utilization rate on competitive advantage of the focused institution. The study was anchored on resource base theory propounded by Robert Grant (1996). Survey design was used, a population of 1,129 which emanated from the service rate of a five- day study was used for the study, the data was analyzed using tables, bar charts and tora soft- ware version 1.00. Findings revealed that facility (system) utilization impacts the competitive position of Guaranty Trust Bank Nigeria Plc. Ekpoma since (Rho/c) value = 0.435, (Mu) value = 15.05 and (Ws) value = 0.07. The study concludes that an analysis of the queuing system of the institution from time to time could aid its performance level. Sequel to the conclusion, the researcher recommended an increase in the number of servers used by the financial institution in focus because of the number of local governments (Esan West, Esan Central, Igueben and Uhunwonde) it serves.

Moderating Role of Portfolio Risk Management on Performance of Water Service Boards in Kenya (Published)
The majority of water service boards are investing millions of money in different portfolios with the objective of profit maximization. However, delays in projects are a global phenomenon and have become a typical part of the project manager’s concern. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine the influence of project portfolio management practices on the performance of water service boards in Kenya. The specific objectives of the study were; to determine the effect of project evaluation, project selection, and prioritization, to establish the moderating effect of contextual factors on the relationship between project portfolio management practices and performance of water service boards in Kenya. The study adopted a cross-sectional survey research design. The population of this study targeted the employees of water boards in Kenya which include coast water service board (CWSB), Rift valley water service board (RVSB), Lake Victoria North(LVNSB), Tana water, TanaAthi water service board, Athi water service board. The unit target constituted Engineers, senior management, middle management, and project team. The study targeted a population of 1310 people. The study found that project selection and prioritization as a project portfolio management practice influenced the performance of water service boards in Kenya; and that there is a significant influence of project evaluation as a project portfolio management practice on the performance of water service boards in Kenya. The study also found that portfolio risk management does moderate the relationships between project portfolio management practice and performance of water service boards in Kenya.

Integrated Management System Implementation in SMEs: A Proposed model for Organisational Performance and Sustainability (Published)
Management systems are important for any organization especially to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that face limitations in areas that larger firms have stability. One of the approaches to overcome these challenges and maintain business growth is implementing and following an integrated management system (IMS), as a model for improving the organizational performance and to maintain sustainable growth in a business. SMEs are global leaders in providing employment opportunities – around 60-70 % in developed economies and 99% of all business in OECD countries, hence sustaining them and enhancing their performance in the business market over larger firms is critical to retain employment opportunities in the future. IMS provides internal and external benefits, especially being more feasible and appropriate for SMEs by increasing competitiveness, stability in business, effective resources management and resilience during market challenges. However, it’s important to focus on the specific characteristics and factors that determine SMEs effective implementation of IMS. To overcome the various barriers limiting their business growth and organizational performance, the proposed conceptional model developed through this research study in conjunction with the associated factors would enable SMEs to effectively implement IMS to achieve organizational performance and sustainability. SMEs in order to maintain a competitive nature in the emerging business markets must adopt different strategies and mechanisms to address the challenges in technology and innovation, which are the prime impacting factors that define a clear road map for sustainable growth.

Relationship between Total Quality Management Practices and Profitability: Case of Small Hotel Sector London (UK) (Published)
The rise of competition has inclined various small-scale businesses to incorporate a robust strategy in order to increase profitability. Therefore, in the contemporary enterprise sector, exceptional importance has been given to the concept of Total Quality Management by both local and multinational organisations, considering the associated benefits of continuous improvement, increased efficiency, and the overall efficacy of the organisation. Thus, the main aim of this study is to assess the impact of TQM implementation into small scale hotels in terms of financial growth (profitability); and to develop a comprehensive and feasible quality framework for managers to adopt the best TQM practices that enhance profitability through quality improvement and to achieve expected results. The researcher has applied quantitative method by recruiting 141 participants (managerial level) to achieve the overall aim and objectives of this study, Therefore, survey questionnaires by using Likert scale has been conducted leading towards descriptive, correlation and chi-square analysis of the data collected. The results showed that various TQM practices have positive impact on the profitability of small hotels, such as continuous improvement, quality improvement, role of top management, training and education, employee empowerment and technological innovation, Finally, this research makes an original contribution in the academic and practical field as it enhances the knowledge of TQM among the managers and quality practitioners. Besides presenting some recommendations for small hotels, the study also puts some suggestions for future research in this area with limitations.

The paper reviews existing literature on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to ascertain the level of corporate social responsibility activities that will enhance the performance/profitability of businesses in Nigeria. It revealed that the success of an organization depends on the extent to which the organization is capable of managing its relationship with key groups, such as financial and stakeholders, but also customers, employees, and even communities or societies. Stakeholders must be considered in the decision making process of the organization. CSR is a concept that includes many different activities and actions which businesses have to involve themselves in for the purpose growth sustainability and growth of businesses. Businesses that voluntarily participates in local community development, such as providing the community with donations, assisting them with projects and sharing some of its profit with the community, helps to increase the business profitability in the long-run.

Risk Management, Risk Concentration and the Performance of Deposit Money Banks in Nigeria (Published)
This study investigated the effect of risk management and risk concentration on the performance of Deposit Money banks in Nigeria for the period 1997 to 2016. The study adopted credit risk, liquidity risk and capital adequacy risk as proxies for risk management/concentration, and return on assets as the measure for performance of Deposit Money banks. Secondary data was collected from the annual financial statements of listed banks and the Nigerian Stock Exchange fact book. The study employed multiple regression technique based on the E-views 7 software for analysis of data. The results of the analysis indicated that credit risk and liquidity risk had positive and significant effect on return on asset, while capital adequacy risk had negative and insignificant effect on return on asset. The study concluded that risk management/concentration affected the performance of banks in Nigeria. Based on the findings, the study recommended that the management of banks should establish sound lending policies, adequate credit administration procedure, and effective and efficient machinery to monitor the lending function in line with established guidelines. Also, the character and financial statement of the borrower must be properly scrutinized and a careful evaluation of the customer’s credit worthiness be carried out before extending loan facilities to potential borrowers.

Effects of Leadership Styles on Productivity of Secretaries in the Public Sector (Published)
Recently, there have been concerns about the attitude of some secretaries or administrative assistants in various organisations across Ghana and this has been blamed on several factors. This study subjects the types of leadership styles to productivity of secretaries or administrative assistants in the public sector in Ghana. The study adopted quantitative approach and survey as a research design. This enabled the researchers to take primary data from large number of respondents. It was found out that Leadership is not attached to a particular style but uses a style that may fit the situation or circumstance they face. Many secretaries and administrative assistants are aware of the competences needed to perform their role. However, these competences are not in use or exhibited by this category of employees. Autocratic leadership style does not necessary lead to high turnover and absenteeism, low productivity and distortion of communication.

Effects of Quality Management Practices on Performance of Kenyan Universities (Published)
The university education sector in Kenya has become very attractive due to changes in the environment. Quality has become an essential business strategy for all sectors and the implementation of quality management practices has become popular. In actual fact, quality management is an integrative management strategy aimed at the continuous improvement of universities performance. The purpose of this study is to establish the effects of quality management practices on performance of Kenyan universities. Deming’s theory of quality management provided a theoretical basis for the study. The study adopted explanatory survey research design. The target population was the employees of public and private universities from which 321 respondents were selected using stratified random sampling techniques. Data was analysed using descriptive statistics Pearson correlations and structural equation modelling. The study unveiled that employee involvement in the university activities, leadership commitment and continuous improvement and customer focus have a significant effect on the university performance. Top management should facilitate employees for any successful implementation of quality management practices. The study recommended that universities operating in Kenya should embrace quality management system to improve their performance.

Effect of Cross-Functional Information Sharing On Supply Chain Agility of Cosmetics Manufacturing Firms in the County Government of Nairobi, Kenya (Published)
Supply Chain Agility is widely regarded as a critical element that affects firms’ competitiveness at the strategic level. This is because firms with Supply Chain Agility have better performance in responding to unforeseen events. The purpose of this study, was to assess the effect of Cross Functional Information Sharing on Supply Chain Agility of Cosmetics Manufacturing firms in the County Government of Nairobi. Cross Functional Information Sharing is generally considered an enabler of a firm’s Supply Chain Agility. Information Sharing has significant effects on the performance of Cosmetics Manufacturing Firms. These trends have led to expanding the scale of procurement and reducing operating and purchase costs in order to improve the responsiveness of the supply chain. Relational View theory, Resource Based View Theory and Stategy, Structure and Performance Theory was adopted in the study. Cross-sectional survey research design was used in the study. The target population of the study was 714 employees working in the Cosmetic Manufacturing Firms in the County Government of Nairobi, Kenya. A sample of 256 was selected from the target population using a Multi Stage Sampling Technique. Both descriptive and inferential statistics was used to analyse the collected data. The results indicates that there is a positive and statistically significant correlation between Cross Functional Information Sharing and Supply Chain Agility (r=.582, p < 0.01). This is a clear indication that any effort to improve the communications channels making it more informative will lead to an increase in supply chain agility. Therefore the study concludes that Cross functional information sharing is a pertinent factor as it affects the Supply Chain Agility of Firms. With the growing technological advances and the emergence of the global information infrastructure, firms should possess the suitable competitive inter-organisational informational systems to enable them to achieve the rapid and effective response to the customer needs and changing expectations

Empirical Investigation of Assessment of Influence of Reward System on Health Worker Job Performance (Published)
This study is examines the influence of reward on worker job performance using health sector as a reference. It is a research based on primary data collected using a structured questionnaire. The influence of reward system on worker performance was analyzed using Ordinary Least Square Regression Analysis Method. The study revealed that there is a positive relationship between reward and worker performance. The study recommended that (1) the employer of labour need to constantly review the reward packages to their employee and allow it to reflect their contribution to the organization. (2) The economic situation of Nigeria has changed drastically in recent time such that cost of living has shut up drastically, employer is expected to pay a reward that reflect changes in economic situation in Nigeria (3) With the present global economic trend, most employers of labour need to realize that for their organizations to compete favourably, employee performance is a key factor and their wellbeing must be of paramount important to them.
