Influence of Social Media Among Youths in Abuja Municipal and Bwari Area Councils of FCT, Abuja (Published)
This study, the “Influence of Social Media among youth in Abuja Municipal Area and Bwari Area Councils of FCT, Abuja” was carried out to investigate the way social media influences the youth in AMAC and Bwari Area Councils of FCT, Abuja. The study adopted quantitative survey design with the questionnaire used as the research instrument for data collection. Data collected was analyzed using descriptive method while univariate frequency distribution tables, percentages and SPSS were used as statistical tools for data collection. Finding of the study revealed that social media platforms are used among the youth to a great extent as majority of them make use of the platforms at least more than twice a day. In the use of the platforms, Facebook endears the youth more for use compared to other social media platforms. The use of social media, therefore, influences the behaviour of youth to a great extent by making them cultivate the habit of living a flamboyant lifestyle. Finding however, revealed that the use of social media is challenged majorly by high data charges from the network providers followed by poor network, while unstable power and activities of Internet scammers are other challenges in the use of the social media among the youth. The recommended that policy makers should benefit from the youth’s interest in the social media in general and the Facebook in particular by using the platforms in reaching out to them (youth) on relevant policies/programmes that can impact positively on their lives in particular and the society in general. It further charged the youth to dedicate more time on the social media for the activities beneficial to them rather than merely posting personal photos and videos which have minimal impacts on their lives. The study concluded that social media is used among the youth and its utilization by this group of the people has tremendous impact on their behavior

An Assessment of the Broadcast Media Campaign against Drugs Abuse in Nigeria (Published)
The use of drugs to cure and heal the body system has been of irreplaceable value to humanity. In other words, it is practically impossible, if not impossible, to dispose of drugs. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), drug means any substance or product that is used or intended to be used to modify the physiological system or pathological state for the benefit of the recipient or user. Different scholarly studies have shown that drugs are useful to boost the immune and metabolic systems of a living being. However, the misuse and abuse of drugs have been problematic issues for the wellbeing of society. As a matter of fact, the abuse of drugs has been on the rise among youths in Nigeria. On a daily basis, many youths in Nigeria consume and abuse different drugs and substances such as heroin, cocaine, marijuana, codeine, amphetamines, narcotics, and the like that produce high dependence. This undoubtedly exposed many Nigerian youths to different harmful health conditions, such as deterioration and weak physical appearance, and irresponsible attitudes like stealing and fighting, among others. Hence, the aim of this paper is to critically examine the use and impacts of drug abuse or addiction among youths in Nigeria and the effectiveness of broadcast media campaigns against drug abuse in Nigeria. The paper will employ different research methods, such as conceptual analysis, to delineate the meaning of major concepts like drugs, drug abuse, and media; the method of critical assessment will also be used to critically evaluate and assess the impacts of media in the campaign against drug abuse among youths in Nigeria. The paper concludes with an affirmation that the intake of illegal drugs among youths in Nigeria is alarming and, as such, dangerous and harmful to their health. Hence, the paper recommends that the government and Non-government organizations should engage more in media campaigns against drug abuse and also be firm and unbiased in enforcing the laws against lawbreakers, especially youths engaging in the consumption of illegal drugs.

Communication, Youths, and Agricultural Development: The Niger Delta Question (Published)
This paper examined the place of communication in mobilizing Niger Delta Youths for agricultural investments. The researchers adopted qualitative approach in conducting the study. This approach also entails that, the study usually depends on secondary data. Four objectives were formulated to guide and give focus to the topic. The study examined types of communication; intrapersonal communication, interpersonal communication, and mass communication. This study shows that Niger Delta has an active work force of about 16,134,968 people, and concluded that any development communicator saddled with the responsibility to disseminate agricultural investment information to Niger Delta youths should be well-informed not only on the subject matter but also about the target social system and about the possible solution to the social problem identified. The study is anchored on development media theory.

Western Films and Youth Dressing Pattern in Nigerian Tertiary Institutions (Published)
This research is focused on the influence of western films on youths dressing pattern in Taraba State University, Jalingo. The study postulated that it is possible for youths to be dissuaded from indecent dressing projected by western films. The survey design was used to gather the data for the study in which 220 questionnaires were administered among students of Taraba State University, Jalingo and 200 was retrieved and used for the analysis. Findings showed that hip hop/hippies, corporate/cocktail and make up/hairstyle are the most imitated forms/styles of dressings by youths in American films and that such forms of dressing to a large extent influences youths choice of dressing. Some of the recommendations proffered for reversing the trend are: proper parenting and counseling, uncompromising religious teaching and establishment of dress code by tertiary institutions.
