Impacts of the Distribution Process on Onion Supply Chain Management in Singida Urban District (Published)
The objectives of the study is to identify the impacts of the distribution process on onion Supply chain management in Singida Urban District. This study was carried out in Singida Urban District which is one of the famous places in Tanzania practicing onions farming however, there are other regions such as Arusha, Mbeya, Kilimanjaro, Manyara, and Njombe where the onions are produced. Population is set of a wide group from which, the sample is drawn for the purpose of generalized opinions of many by small numbers of representatives. This study targeted warehouse operators, farmers, retailers, distributors, consumers and key informative personnel involved in onions produces within the study area of Singida Urban District. The study used a sample size of 100 respondents less than the targeted sample size of 138 obtained from the estimated population large than 1000. Based on studies in Ethiopia, the onion supply chain took about 0.44% of the entire agriculture participant’s dominant crop for commercial purposes. The results suggest that the distribution channels used by majority of onion farmers were whole sellers. onion SC influence by the distribution process of onions, such as number of market locations and distribution channels used to use a two-way ANOVA study revealed that different distribution channels have different variability in the onion supply chain the types of distribution channel used were statistically significant [F (1, 86) =1.25, p=0.01].

Facility Location and Its Impact on the Environment: Using a Centralized and Decentralized Approach, a Case Study (Published)
There has been an increase in consumption of goods in the last century due to the rapid economic growth all over the world. Globalization has availed large streams of goods to meet this demand but the production, transportation, storage and consumption of these goods have caused environmental problems to emerge. Manufacturing companies are facing numerous pressures from the government and consumers to produce environmentally sustainable goods. The decision to set-up a plant is a strategic issue as the best facility location does not only ensure that the costs are minimized but also take care of the impacts on the environment. This paper presents a case of ABC Chinese steel manufacturing company operating in a centralized facility location approach and intends to evaluate the impact of a decentralized approach on the environment. A simulation of the two networks is run and the results reveal that the centralized approach is more suitable for this company as it is not only economical to them but it is also environmentally sustainable due to the lower carbon emissions produced by this model. The research concludes that facility location decisions greatly impacts the environment but the approach to adopt depends on the type of the product, mode of transportation and the choices of fuel.

The current digital revolution has an impact on every sector of the Business, so automatically the procurement processes will also be affected; words like “Industry 4.0”, “IoT” and “Procurement 4.0” are floating all around. The purpose of this research paper to show that procurement is also a vital part of the supply chain industry. Procurement has three levels in which it is used in the industry i.e. Strategic, Tactical and Operational. The focus is further narrowed down to show operational procurement processes (P2P/R2P) in deep. The risks associated with P2P processes have been discussed in detail, further it is also shown how these risks can possibly be mitigated with automation. Automation of operational procurement processes in today’s competitive world is very important and this research shows how these automation concepts can be implemented, and which benefits will it bring to any organization? Literature Review Supporting Development of a Resilience-Oriented Supplier Segmentation Method (Published)
Supply chain exposure to major disruptions has increased following trends of globalization, reduced inventory, and increased reliance on strong relationships with fewer suppliers. Many management strategies for increasing resilience are discussed in literature, but these often require trade-offs in other performance areas, such as cost. A structured method is needed to ensure selection of the best strategy for any given sourcing scenario. Supplier segmentation is a method that has been used to identify appropriate procurement strategies for groups of suppliers with similar needs. However, existing segmentation methods have not focused on the goal of choosing strategies that support increased supply chain resilience. Through systematic literature review, this work identifies and categorizes a set of management strategies and supply chain characteristics that can increase resilience. By identifying factors to enable resilience and relating them to existing dimensions of supplier segmentation, this research introduces an approach to supplier segmentation for increased resilience.

Literature Review of the Environment Affecting Logistics Services and Supply Chain Management: A Case of Three Provinces in Vietnam (Published)
The objective of this article is to review the external-internal environment affecting logistics services and its implications and how logistics services influences supply chain management. The researchers surveyed 450 enterprise managers who are using the logistics services and answered 15 questions. The primary sources of data collected from December 2017 to May 2018 in Ho Chi Minh city, Dong Nai province and Ba Ria – Vung Tau province. Simple random sampling technique is from 450 enterprise managers related to logistics (each province is 150 samples). The data adapted questionnaire on a 5-point Likert scale: Conventions: 1: Completely disagree, 2: Disagree, 3: Normal; 4: Agree; 5: completely agree. Hard copy distributed among 12.000 enterprise managers. In addition, the results of the study have the external-internal factor of logistics services and supply chain management based on Mean value and Std. Deviation.

Assessing Users’ Satisfaction of Medical Logistics Supply Chain System in Ghana- Case of Sandema District Hospital (Published)
The study is to investigate the satisfaction of users with medical logistics supply chain. The study focused on Sandema district hospital as the study site from which information was collected. The researcher adopted the mixed research approach. From the perspective of Creswell (2012) a mixed approach research design enables the researcher to use objective methods to measure the incidence of various opinions in a chosen sample. A mixed approach research design further enhances an in-depth and rich account of the constructs that are being investigated (Saunders, Lewis & Thornhil, 2007; Yin, 2003). Four research questions were formulated for the research. The researcher used quantitative survey approach to gather information from a large spectrum of patients of Sandema district hospital in his quest to ascertain their satisfaction with medical logistics at the hospital. The target population of this study included staff and patients of the Sandema hospital. The researcher chose a sample of two hundred (200) patients and ten (10) health personnel in order to organize appropriate data useful for the study. The purposive and convenience sampling technique were the most appropriate sampling techniques utilized by the researcher. The study revealed that health personnel of the Sandema Hospital had fore knowledge about medical logistics supply chain as all the activities that are involved in the procuring, management and the usage consumable and non-consumable materials of the hospital. Also, stores and the procurement unit of the Sandema District Hospital is the department or unit within the Sandema Hospital that is responsible for the procurement and the storage of medical logistics before these medical logistics get to the final consumer (patients/health personnel). Despite some challenges confronting the Sandema hospital with respect to medical logistics supply chain, the health personnel of the hospital are satisfied with the medical logistics supply chain as it enables them to perform their duties efficiently. Contrary to the above assertions, the study further revealed that majority of the patients is not satisfied with the hospitals ability to supply medical logistics for their treatment. Finally, the study revealed lack of funds in acquiring medical logistics, little knowledge of medical logistics supply chain, poor internal control, long and bureaucratic procedures in the medical logistics supply chain and delay in the payment of medical logistics.

Role of Sustainable Procurement Practices on Supply Chain Performance of Manufacturing Sector in Kenya: A Case Study of East African Portland Cement Company (Published)
The purpose of this study was to examine the role of sustainable procurement practices on the supply chain performance. The study adopted a case study research design. The target population of interest in this study consisted of staff members at EAPCC headquarters in Machakos County. This research adopted a stratified random sampling technique in selecting the sample. The study used primary data, which was collected through use questionnaires. The study also made use of secondary sources of information. Data was classified, tabulated and summarized using descriptive measures while tables were used for presentation of the findings. Pearson’s correlations coefficients was run to examine the relationship between the independent and the dependent study variables that are set out in the objectives of the study.The study findings indicated that 76.3% of change in Supply Chain Performance at EAPCC can be explained by four variables namely Procurement Preferences and Reservations, Green Procurement Practices, Supplier Involvement and Electronic Procurement. According to the research findings, sustainable procurement practices at EAPCC had been fully implemented. Effects of Procurement Preferences and Reservations, Green Procurement Practices, Supplier Involvement and Electronic Procurement were found to be statistically significant with a positive impact on supply chain performance. The study recommends that it is imperative that organizations start to view sustainable procurement as strategic in value. Following the results of the study, it is evident to conclude that there is a positive relationship between Sustainable Procurement Practices and Supply Chain Performance. Through procurement preferences and reservations, adoption of green procurement practices, involvement of suppliers and the use of integrated procurement systems, EAPCC has continued to be at the heart of Kenya’s economic success story.

SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT AND COMPLETION OF PETROLEUM PROJECTS IN NIGERIA (Published)
Projects are executed for several reasons. The elements of risk and uncertainty inherent in virtually all projects explain why the project characteristics like duration, cost and quality cannot be precisely predicted. These risks, uncertainty and other factors are responsible for the delays or even abandonment of several projects for which Nigeria is notorious. Procurement of goods and services is a crucial determinant of whether or not a project will be completed. With the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company as case study, this paper examined how project completion depends on supply chain management, of which procurement is an essential subset and proxy. The study was questionnaire-driven, and the Statistical Package of the Social Sciences was used to analyse the results vide chi square test, correlation and cross-tabulation. The research found that strict adherence to SCM practices, will facilitate prompt completion of petroleum projects with its attendant benefits to the stakeholders
