Empowering End-User by Risk mitigation concepts in operational procurement through digitization (Published)
The current digital revolution has an impact on every sector of the Business, so automatically the procurement processes will also be affected; words like “Industry 4.0”, “IoT” and “Procurement 4.0” are floating all around. The purpose of this research paper to show that procurement is also a vital part of the supply chain industry. Procurement has three levels in which it is used in the industry i.e. Strategic, Tactical and Operational. The focus is further narrowed down to show operational procurement processes (P2P/R2P) in deep. The risks associated with P2P processes have been discussed in detail, further it is also shown how these risks can possibly be mitigated with automation. Automation of operational procurement processes in today’s competitive world is very important and this research shows how these automation concepts can be implemented, and which benefits will it bring to any organization? Emerging literature, case studies, blogs, expert opinions, citations are used to fulfill this task. The Impact of Effective Strategic Sourcing On Operational Efficiency Case of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital [Kath] (Published)
This paper examined empirically the “impact of effective strategic sourcing on operational efficiency in healthcare delivery of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH). Exact survey-based research methodology was implemented to examine the research questions and Data was gathered utilizing three arrangements of polls regulated to 40 tolerant parental figures (medical caretakers, clinicians and specialists), 12 senior doctor’s facility managers, and 13 procurement officers. The concentrate plainly exhibits that strategic sourcing assumes a key part in an association’s business operations and puts more noteworthy accentuation on adding to the sourcing chief’s business capability. Incessant stock outs of drugs were affirmed, the effects of which on medicinal services delivery went from death of patients, deterioration of restorative states of patients, clinic congestion, to exchange of patients to other healing facilities. These stock outs were credited to: disappointment by a ‘legislature established supplier’ to satisfy medication requests; delays by procurement staff; and withholding of funds by donors. It is therefore suggested that a strategic movement from single sourcing to strategic sourcing keeping in mind the end goal to guarantee efficiency in operations to turn away the determined medication stock outs openly doctor’s facilities.

Assessing Users’ Satisfaction of Medical Logistics Supply Chain System in Ghana- Case of Sandema District Hospital (Published)
The study is to investigate the satisfaction of users with medical logistics supply chain. The study focused on Sandema district hospital as the study site from which information was collected. The researcher adopted the mixed research approach. From the perspective of Creswell (2012) a mixed approach research design enables the researcher to use objective methods to measure the incidence of various opinions in a chosen sample. A mixed approach research design further enhances an in-depth and rich account of the constructs that are being investigated (Saunders, Lewis & Thornhil, 2007; Yin, 2003). Four research questions were formulated for the research. The researcher used quantitative survey approach to gather information from a large spectrum of patients of Sandema district hospital in his quest to ascertain their satisfaction with medical logistics at the hospital. The target population of this study included staff and patients of the Sandema hospital. The researcher chose a sample of two hundred (200) patients and ten (10) health personnel in order to organize appropriate data useful for the study. The purposive and convenience sampling technique were the most appropriate sampling techniques utilized by the researcher. The study revealed that health personnel of the Sandema Hospital had fore knowledge about medical logistics supply chain as all the activities that are involved in the procuring, management and the usage consumable and non-consumable materials of the hospital. Also, stores and the procurement unit of the Sandema District Hospital is the department or unit within the Sandema Hospital that is responsible for the procurement and the storage of medical logistics before these medical logistics get to the final consumer (patients/health personnel). Despite some challenges confronting the Sandema hospital with respect to medical logistics supply chain, the health personnel of the hospital are satisfied with the medical logistics supply chain as it enables them to perform their duties efficiently. Contrary to the above assertions, the study further revealed that majority of the patients is not satisfied with the hospitals ability to supply medical logistics for their treatment. Finally, the study revealed lack of funds in acquiring medical logistics, little knowledge of medical logistics supply chain, poor internal control, long and bureaucratic procedures in the medical logistics supply chain and delay in the payment of medical logistics.

Factors Influencing Green Supply Chain in the Mining Sector in Ghana (Published)
The concept of green supply chain management (GSCM) is attaining high level significance given that it can help to minimize negative impact of mining activities on the environment and to ensure environmental sustainability. This research was carried out primarily to examine the factors influencing green supply chain management in the mining industry of Ghana. Data was collected using focus group discussion with the experts from the mining companies. Analysis of the data showed that the goods purchased by mining companies have negative effects on the environment. It was also concluded that procurement practices could be used to reduce the negative impacts of the companies’ operation on the environment since the procurement departments of the companies have specific policies geared towards environmentally preferable purchases. The study further established that green procurement influence supplier selection through environmental regulations by Environmental Protection Agency of Ghana, suppliers’ environmental emission among others. The study revealed that the most notable factors influencing green supply chain in the mining companies in Ghana include lack of knowledge and expertise involving green supply chain, lack of awareness of the potential economic benefits of green supply chain, lack of political commitment, lack of the learning capacity to evaluate green supply chain; high cost of environmental programs, ineffective sanction regime for environmental offenders among others. The study recommends that mining companies and its allies should organise joint seminars and workshops to sensitize the staff and suppliers on the benefits of green purchasing and the need to embrace it. The mining industry and EPA should also link up to train their supply/logistics/procurement practitioners on the issues of green procurement /supply chain.

EFFECTS OF PROCUREMENT PROCEDURES ON PROJECT PERFORMANCE: A CASE STUDY OF LIGHT CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS AT KENYA PORTS AUTHORITY, MOMBASA. (Published)
Procurement procedures have increasingly played an important role in project performance. This study aimed to ascertain the effects of procurement procedures on project performance, and it was a case study of light construction projects at Kenya Ports Authority, Mombasa. Specifically the study sought to examine the effects of specification definition, bid invitation, bid evaluation and contract negotiation on project performance. The study was conducted through a descriptive design using a survey of 6 light construction projects at Kenya Ports Authority, Mombasa office. The study employed purposive sampling to select the sample and sample elements. This resulted to a sample size of 24 project management officers. Structured questionnaire was used as a data collection instrument. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics and regression techniques. Regression analysis indicated that specification definition accounts for 29.4% of variations in project performance; bid invitation accounts for 6.7%; bid evaluation accounts for 58.5 % and contract negotiation contributes 29.4% of variations in project performance. The analysis revealed that the four independent variables in this study accounted for 76.8% of change in project performance. This study concluded that procurement procedures have a strong and positive correlation with project performance in KPA.

SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT AND COMPLETION OF PETROLEUM PROJECTS IN NIGERIA (Published)
Projects are executed for several reasons. The elements of risk and uncertainty inherent in virtually all projects explain why the project characteristics like duration, cost and quality cannot be precisely predicted. These risks, uncertainty and other factors are responsible for the delays or even abandonment of several projects for which Nigeria is notorious. Procurement of goods and services is a crucial determinant of whether or not a project will be completed. With the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company as case study, this paper examined how project completion depends on supply chain management, of which procurement is an essential subset and proxy. The study was questionnaire-driven, and the Statistical Package of the Social Sciences was used to analyse the results vide chi square test, correlation and cross-tabulation. The research found that strict adherence to SCM practices, will facilitate prompt completion of petroleum projects with its attendant benefits to the stakeholders

THE IMPACT OF INFORMATION COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY ON INVENTORY CONTROL SYSTEMS IN TRANSPORT ORGANIZATION: A CASE STUDY OF KENYA FERRY SERVICES (Published)
With the increasing focus in enhancing supply management chain through use of the rapid development of Information and Communication Technology, businesses are seeking to develop and organize strategic, efficient and world-wide inventory control system for its use. In order to promote such global inventory control system, which are also compatible with sustainability objectives, organizations need to develop and implement effective systems both individually and collectively. This has resulted to Modern inventory control as a result of improved technology being one of the most strategic initiative embraced by organization in partnering initiatives for encouraging collaboration and information sharing among trading partners (Angulo, 2007). The main objective of the study was to investigate the impact of technology on inventory control systems in Kenya ferry services. The study adopted a descriptive research with survey of a total of 220 and applied a stratified random sampling technique to select a sample size of 60 respondents. Questionnaires were used as the main data collection Descriptive statistics analysis method was to analyze the gathered data. The study concluded that technology has had bigger impact on inventory control in terms of efficiency, ease of accessing information and accuracy thereby affecting organizational performance. The study recommends that modern inventory control systems should be well implemented since it forms a platform for ease of evaluating risk in which the organization invest a lot of money in purchasing of inventory. Additionally the study recommends that organization should integrate all its inventory management functions with information communication technology as well.
