N-Power Agro Programmes on Youths Empowerment in Akamkpa Local Government Area of Cross River State, Nigeria (Published)

This study investigated the N-Power Agro programmes on Youths Empowerment in Akamkpa Local Government Area of Cross River State, Nigeria. One research questions and One hypothesis was formulated to guide the study. ex-post facto research design was adopted for the study, while stratified and simple random sampling techniques were used in selecting 473 respondents. A 11 – item questionnaire titled: N-power Agro Programmes and Youth Empowerment Questionnaire (NAPYEQ) was used for data collection. The instrument was validated and the reliability estimate, using Cronbach alpha statistics, ranged from .68 to .74. Data collected were analyzed using mean and standard deviation for the research questions, while the t-test statistic was used to test the null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The result showed that N-power Agro programmes has significantly impacted Youths empowerment in Akamkpa to a great extent. Based on the findings of the study recommendations were made among others that more sensitization programmes should be conducted to expose youths on the scope of N-power Agro Programmes.

Women Educational Empowerment and Sustainable Political Development of Nigeria: Akwa Ibom State in Perspective (Published)

The study examined women educational empowerment and the sustainable political development of Nigeria. The population consisted of female lecturers from three higher educational institutions in Akwa Ibom State. These include the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State University, Ikot Akpaden; and Akwa Ibom State College of Education, Afana Nsit.The cluster sampling technique was used in selecting a sample of 235 respondents out of a population of 2,351 targeted respondents.Two null hypotheses were formulated, based on the specific objectives of the study and tested at the .05 alpha level using Pearson Product Moment Correlation Analysis. Data collection was done with the use of a structured instrument, “Women Empowerment and Sustainable Political Development Questionnaire” (WESPDQ), which was duly validated by experts. The WESPDQ was tested for reliability using the Cronbach alpha approach, with a coefficient of .78 indicating that the instrument was internally consistent. Findings indicated a significant relationship between the two independent variables and the dependent variable respectively. It was, therefore, concluded that women educational empowerment has a significant relationship with the sustainable political development of Nigeria. It was recommended, among other things, that government at all levels (federal, state and local) should formulate policies that seek to empower women educationally to facilitate sustainable political development of the country.

Functional Vocational and Technical Education Curriculum for Sustainable Youth Empowerment in Nigeria (Published)

This paper was designed to look at vocational and technical education curriculum. Vocational and technical education is a programme designed for sustainable youth empowerment in Nigeria. Vocational and technical education cannot be overemphasized for development and growth of the economy. The paper treated the topic under the following sub- headings: Technical and Vocational Education in Nigeria, Functional Vocational and Technical Curriculum Implementation, Factors Militating against Implementation of Functional Vocational and Technical Education in Nigeria, and Promoting Vocational and Technical Education Curriculum for Sustainable Youth Empowerment in Nigeria. The paper was concluded and recommendations were made to further improve on the vocational and technical education programme. Some of the recommendations are : Government should delegate inspectors from ministry of education or set-up an implementation committee that will advise government on better ways of monitoring, controlling and implementing the affairs of vocational and technical education programme
