Evaluating the Use of Information Communication Technology and Its Full Integration into the Educational System in University of Jos (Published)
In this present age globally, information and communication technology has transformed the educational system positively. Africa, Nigeria in particular, is not left out in the quest for full automated education. This study evaluated the use of information communication technology and its full integration into the educational system in University of Jos. Five research objectives and questions were designed to find out the level of use of different ICT platforms for teaching and learning. The study adopted the descriptive survey design. The population and sample size of the study consisted of 100 academic staff, non-academic staff and students. The instruments for data collection were an online questionnaire and Focus Group Discussion (FGD). Descriptive statistics of percentages were used to analyse the data. The result of study revealed that the level of ICT integration into the university of Jos educational system is fairly in place. Based on the findings, the study recommended that there should be adequate funding to take care of the numerous challenges and intended policies outlined. It also recommended that effective mechanism be put in place to monitor its disbursement and implementation of such funds.

Library and Information Services: A Panacea for Promoting Teacher Education Programmes in Nigeria to Meet Global Demands (Published)
Teacher education programmes in Nigeria have come under heavy criticism these past decades; with government and stakeholders expressing so much concern as to why the graduates are not excelling, despite the huge resources expended in the programme. The paper discussed the concept of education, teacher education programmes, the quite essential role libraries and librarians play in the advancement of teacher education programmes to meet the global demand. The paper identified some challenges facing the teacher education programme ranging from inadequate information resource, poor information utilization due to lack of information literacy skills, poor integration of new technologies in library service delivery in teacher education libraries, poor internet subscription in the E-library, and poor library services for teacher education programme. Given the fact that libraries are known as knowledge and information centres for the dissemination of information, referral, consultancy, and advocacy services. Suggestions on how libraries can advance TE programme by providing adequate print, non-print resources, effective e-resources and functional e-library and teach information literacy skills for trainee teachers to enhance teacher education programmes and students in the utilization of information for learning and researches to meet global demands.

The changes in library operations and service delivery inundated by emerging technologies, pose a need for library and information science educators to adopt a global initiative to resolve curriculum and training issues in library schools in Africa. To this end, this paper reviews Library and Information Science education in Nigeria,Library and Information Science curriculum reforms, ICT and LISE, entrepreneurial skills in LISE and major challenges facing LISE in Nigeria.The paper presented a module for a proposed curriculum, identified the entrepreneurial skills needed by LISE graduates and posited that a dearth of qualified IT professionals in Library schools, poor funding, poor policy implementation among others are the major challenges facing LISE in Nigeria. The study recommended that effective policy implementation is an essential tool to enhance LISE transformation in Nigeria. Also, the opportunities the Information technology application offers will transform library and information science education, and these will help bridge the gap between the two worlds.

Level of Availability and Utilization of Information and Communication Technology Facilities by Students: A Case Study of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, Imo State Nigeria (Published)
This paper is an attempt to evaluate the availability and utilization of Information and Communication (ICT) facilities by students in Federal Polytechnic Library, and also challenges the academic library faces in the area of adoption and utilization of ICT in their service delivery. Questionnaire survey approach was adopted. Primary data were collected with the aid of a four point likert scale questionnaire. Questionnaires were administered to Students of the study area. The Population for the Students at Federal Polytechnic Nekede is 870 which was obtained from the Universities’ Information and Communication Technology block (ICT, 2017). The sample size is 290. The sampling technique used here is stratified simple random. To guarantee the reliability of the instrument, it was administered on ten(10)participants out of the envisaged population of the study. A test-retest reliability method of two weeks interval was conducted, response obtained were subjected to Pearson Product Moment Correlation method and a reliability co-efficient of 0.78 was obtained. To analyze data on the research questions of the study the researcher used descriptive statistical mean. The hypothesis was tested using the chi-square (x2) which is a statistical tool to test hypothesis about the relationship between means of groups. It was tested at 0.05 level of significance. The study found that scanning machines, printer, CD-ROM, Computer, Flash Drives, Land Area Network (LAN) and Inverter were available but few. Also the majority of the students indicated that they use ICT to retrieve information (3.1), make research(3.1), disseminate information (3.0) chat with friends (3.1) and download files (3.0). Challenges such as unreliable telecommunication network (3.3) insecurity in the library (3.3) epileptic power supply (3.3) unreliable internet (3.0) and high cost of ICT hardware/software were identified as major challenges of availability and utilization of ICT in the school’s academic library. It was recommended however that these challenges be looked into both by the institution and government in order to address the challenges.

Availability and Utilization of Information Resources and Services in the Special Education Centre Libraries in South-East, Nigeria (Published)
The study focused on ascertaining the availability and utilization of information resources and services in the special education centre libraries in South-East, Nigeria. The study was prompted due to the problems encountered by physically challenged student in the use of normal library services. Six research questions were posed to guide the study, while two hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. The study adopted survey research design, and used observational checklist and rating scale as data collection instruments. The sample size for the study was 430 comprising five special education staff and 425 special education pupils/students. Two-stage sampling simple random sampling was made. Cronbach Alpha technique was used to ascertain reliability coefficient of .85. Frequency count, standard deviation and mean score were used to address the research questions while the hypotheses were tested using t-test of difference. Results revealed that the number of available information resources for the blind and partially sighted is significantly less than expected in this context. That the number of available information resources for the deaf and hard of hearing is also significantly less than expected. The study also revealed that the available information services for the blind and partially sighted is significantly less than expected, the available information services for the deaf and hard of hearing is also significantly less than expected. The available information resources for the blind and partially sighted are not fully utilized, and the available information resources for the deaf and hard of hearing are not fully utilized. The study concluded that the provision of information resources and services is less than expected. Also the available information resources and services are not fully utilized by the physically challenged groups studied for any significant impact in learning. It `was recommended that, there should be provision of information resources, such as Braille resources; tactile or raised surface; sign language books; adaptive or electronic devices. Services like: on-sight support; guided tours; facilities, etc. Every such library should employ librarians who are clearly aware of the nature of work they do. Adequate funding for proper management of the special education centre libraries in Nigeria in such a way as to meet the present day educational demand for these classes of /pupils/students studied, among others. Suggestions for further studies were also made.

VANDALISM OF INFORMATION MATERIAL IN COLLEGES OF EDUCATION IN DELTA STATE (Published)
The study Examine the extent of the vandalism of information materials in Colleges of Education in Delta State, Nigeria. The total population of this study comprises of the users of the four (4) Colleges of Education in Delta State. The sample population was two hundred (200), Sample was used for the study, frequency table and simple percentage was used to analyze the study. The study revealed that vandalism of information materials occurs in all the libraries. It also revealed that suspects of the vandalism are mainly students and staff, in view of the findings, the following were recommended; cheap and sharp photocopy services should be put in place in the libraries, Staff in-service training should be encouraged by the library management (librarian) to enlighten, particularly the junior staffs on what library profession is all about, this will enhance the efficiency of the workers, there should be regular funding of the library to enable it buy multiple copies of each book title, there should be regular user education, regular campaign and suggestion books mounted in the library to enable those students have their views and grievances.
