Effect of Digital Transformation on Administrative Efficiency in the Nigerian Senate (Published)

This study examined the effect of digital transformation on administrative efficiency in the Nigerian Senate, with particular emphasis on digital infrastructure, workflow automation and e-records management, and staff digital competence. The study was motivated by the growing policy and institutional relevance of digital transformation in public administration and the need to determine whether visible digital reforms in the Senate have translated into measurable improvements in internal administrative operations. A cross-sectional survey design and quantitative approach were adopted. The population comprised 109 Senators, and a census technique was used. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire, out of which 93 valid responses were returned and analysed. Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression were employed for data analysis at the 0.05 level of significance. The findings revealed that digital infrastructure has a strong and statistically significant positive effect on administrative efficiency (β = .640, p < .001), while workflow automation and erecords management also exert a significant positive effect (β = .232, p = .014). However, staff digital competence, though positively related to administrative efficiency, did not have a statistically significant independent effect (β = .140, p = .113). The regression model showed high explanatory power, accounting for 86.6% of the variation in administrative efficiency (R² = .866). The study concludes that administrative efficiency in the Nigerian Senate depends more directly on robust digital systems and automated administrative processes than on staff competence alone. It recommends sustained investment in digital infrastructure, deeper automation of records and workflows, and more task-specific digital capacity development.

Digital Transformation Capabilities and Operational Cost Efficiency among SMEs in North-Central Nigeria: Evidence from Process Automation, Data Analytics, and Digital Literacy (Published)

This study examines the relationship between digital transformation capabilities and operational cost efficiency among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in North-Central Nigeria. Specifically, it investigates the cost-efficiency effects of process automation, data analytics capability, and employee digital literacy. Using a quantitative research design, data were obtained from 373 SME owners, managers, and senior employees and analysed using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). The findings indicate that digital transformation capabilities significantly improve operational cost efficiency. Process automation and employee digital literacy demonstrate the strongest positive effects, suggesting their importance in reducing operational waste, labour intensity, and coordination costs. Data analytics capability also shows a positive but comparatively weaker effect, reflecting its complementary role in strategic monitoring and decision support. The study contributes to digital transformation discourse in emerging economies and offers practical insights for enhancing SME cost competitiveness.

OPTIMIZATION OF IT AND DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION: STRATEGIC IMPERATIVE FOR CREATING A NEW VALUE DELIVERY MECHANISM AND A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE IN ORGANIZATION (Published)

The ‘quest’ for creating and maintaining relevance in the competitive world is acting as a driving force of innovation and transformation. Recent research reveals that technology-as-business-driver is going to play a mission critical role in driving organizational transformation. Digital Transformation thus gets the priority in the strategic agenda of the organization towards creating a new paradigm in value delivery mechanism. Digitizing is no longer an option for but a must choice for futurising the organization to create competitiveness, sustainability and the growth. The strategic imperative of any futuristic organization is to achieve enduring customer relevance and sustainable customer value at scale through a customer-centric digital transformation. Whether companies perceive digitalization as a threat, a challenge or an opportunity, those that ignore it do so at their own peril. Author has used case analysis as a research method to analyze and zero in to the key objectives. Therefore author’s thought process is focused on presenting a research perspective along with practical ideas and steps towards information technology optimization and digital transformation to accelerate growth overcoming issues, challenges and critical problems with undiluted focus on FUTURIZATION. This article will ignite academic interest and debate in the area with a new outlook on strategic imperatives of organization for technology adoption and application and will foster further research on technology optimization, digitalization for organizational renewal, relevance and repositioning in the value equation of the industry growth curve.
