Business Intelligence and Competitive Advantage of Hotels in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria (Published)
This study was carried out to examine the influence of business intelligence on competitive advantage of hotels in Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria. The survey research design was used in the study. The study had a population of 1,806 and a sample size of 327 determined with Taro Yamane’s formula for sample size determination. The questionnaire was the primary instrument used in data collection. The instrument recorded 73.7% response rate. Data analysis was done with simple regression method. Results of data analysis indicated that data management system (Beta =1.252, t=3.547, p>0.05) has a insignificant influence on hotels competitive advantage in Akwa Ibom State. It also indicated that mobile devices (Beta= 1.095, t= 2.375, p<0.05) have a significant influence on hotels competitive advantage in Akwa Ibom State. It was concluded that business intelligence can lead to competitive advantage of hotels in Akwa Ibom State. It was recommended that hotels in Akwa Ibom State provide for a sound and reliable data management system that can facilitate its capacity to make prompt business decisions to aid its operations towards being ahead of others in their line of business. It was also recommended that hotels in Akwa Ibom State use applicable modern devices that can enhance its operations in delivering quality services to various customers in order to earn competitive advantage.

Business Intelligence System Strategies and Organizational Success in Public Hospitals in Rivers State, Nigeria (Published)
This paper examined business intelligence System strategies and organizational success of public hospitals in Rivers State, Nigeria. The objective was to investigate the relationship between data mining, Online Analytical Processing, Querying System, Report System and organizational success of the public hospitals in Rivers State. Primary data were sourced from a sample size of two hundred and thirty four medical personnel. The test for the internal consistency of the instrument was conducted using Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient (r) which yielded a reliability index of 0.89. Mean and standard deviation were used to examine the extent to which business intelligence affect performance; Spearman’s rank order correlation coefficient was used to test the null hypotheses. The findings of this study found data mining, online analytical processing, querying systems and reporting systems significantly relate to the success of public hospitals in Rivers State; there is a significant relationship data mining, online analytical processing, querying systems, reporting systems and quick decision making as well as time saving, significantly moderates relationship between business intelligence systems and organizational success in public hospitals in Rivers State. The study therefore conclude that business intelligence have significant effect on performance of the hospitals. We recommend that federal and state government should overhaul the health services and bring them into the mainstream of business intelligence scheme.

Decision Support Systems: Creating Value For Marketing Decisions In The Pharmaceutical Industry (Published)
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of decision support systems to creating value for marketing decisions in the pharmaceutical industry. Methodology: This paper was completed with the help of an extensive literature study on decision support/business intelligence and pharmaceutical industry marketing available on the databases and websites. Primary data has been used in this paper to check the impact of information technology market performance. The SPSS software package is used to analyze the employee responses and statistical technique. Regression analysis is used to check the impact of information technology on market performance. Findings: 150 questionnaires were being given to stakeholders in different pharmaceutical companies located in Pakistan. 104 were collected back and 96 questionnaires are considered valid and used are for analysis. After analyzing the data, we find that information technology has significant impact on market performance in pharmaceutical industry. According to the stakeholders, strategic planning, organizational support, knowledge management and technological advancement have significant impact on the success of information technology for decision support. Research limitations / Implications: More research will be required on the theory presented in this thesis “Decision Support Systems: Creating Value for Marketing Decisions in the Pharmaceutical Industry”
