Verifying the Efficacy of Translation as a Teaching Technique from EFL Teachers’ Perspective (Published)

The present paper aimed to shed light on L2 teachers’ perspectives on the use of translation in English language teaching (TILT) as a technique in (FL) setting. The related literature reviewed gave evidence that translation has a dynamic role in the EFL setting, and it contributed effectively in reducing language obstacles, motivating better communication, and evolving linguistic competence. The statistical analysis of the questionnaire revealed that there was a higher tendency among the teachers to use translation as an effective tool in L2 teaching. The respondents highly appreciated the effective role of (TILT) in the L2 environment since it increases learners’ awareness of the FL, encourages them to overcome difficulties in the L2. Likewise, they admitted that (TILT) in (L2) setting is a supportive and effective technique and sometimes necessary but it should be used rationally to avoid its pitfalls.

Investigating Basic and Contradictory Theories Used In Translation (Published)

This study aims at investigating the basic theories of translation that should be used by Saudi Arabia university students, College of Science and Arts AL-Baha University in academic year 2016-2017 during the second semester. The study also aims at disusing these theories, showing the kind of theories, introducing translation theories in details and suggest suitable theory for translation.  Also introduce Linguistic Theories Related to Translation. because Translation theory derives from comparative linguistics, and within linguistics, it is mainly an aspect of semantic; all questions of semantics are related to translation theory. linguistic approach to translation theory incorporates the following concepts: meaning, equivalence, shift, text purpose and analysis, and discourse register. focuses on the theory in general; it is role of communication in exchanging knowledge, science, culture, and the linguistics theory that is related to translation in general. It is history and development. Finally, it focuses on the works that have been done in the area of translation theory. For these purpose, research questions are posed.

Factors Influencing the Quality of Translation (Published)

The quality of translation depends on a number of factors, some of which, may be beyond the researcher’s control. In those cases, where the researcher and the translator are the same person the quality of translation is influenced by many factors which are very important in quality of translation. This study aims at investigating the different factors influencing the quality translation. The study also aims at identifying these factors, showing the kind of these factors, introducing factors in details. The quality of translation is influenced mainly by three factors: the competence, the autobiography and what called the material circumstances of the translator, that is the position the translator holds. For these purpose, research questions are posed. This study of the Investigating factors influencing the quality of translation, shedding light on the nature of these factors, as well as the nature of evaluating these the influencing of the factors. Translator must have knowledge of the language and the culture of the people under study and fluency in the language.

Identifying the Prerequisites That Must Be Possessed By the Translator (Published)

This study aims at investigating the different perquisites of translator that should be used by Sudanese university students College of Translation, Khartoum University in academic year 2014-2015 during the first semester. The study also aims at identifying these prerequisites, showing the kind of skills that must mastered by translator, introducing prerequisites in details and suggest suitable prerequisites for translation. For these purpose, research questions are posed. The sample of these study consists of 20 students who are chosen from the students of translation. The analytical descriptive approach is adopted to handle this study.  The method of this study is descriptive and analytical method. Also, deals with the analysis of the data and to test the hypotheses. It includes the procedures followed in achieving the objectives of this study and strategies chosen in analyzing data. This data was analyzed in order to reveals the best. The study prerequisites focus on basic that used by s prerequisites students when they translate. The study used questionnaire as a tool for collecting data. The findings of the study

Which Preposition? An EFL Dilemma (Published)

EFL students face tremendous difficulties when translating from Arabic to English. One aspect of grammatical constructions that EFL students find difficult to translate is the translation of prepositions. This study aims at investigating the difficulties EFL students face when translating prepositions from Arabic into English. 105 students enrolled in undergraduate Translation courses in the English department, College of Basic Education were given a list of statements and short paragraphs and asked to translate them from Arabic into English. In addition, the students were asked to provide academic information to be statistically evaluated as independent variables. After data was collected and analyzed, it was found that students have considerable difficulty translating prepositions, some more than others.

TRANSLATION OF “SALUTE TO NON-DEGREE TECHNOLOGISTS” BY ASHFAQ AHMED’ INTO ENGLISH (Published)

Translation is the method of converting a Source text into Target text. Translation aims at producing a text that not only contains the real essence of source text but also is acceptable in target culture. In this article, translators have chosen the text from “Zaviya” which is pith of philosophical articles of Dr.Ashfaq Ahmed. The very article which has been chosen to be translated in this paper is “Salute to Non-Degree Technologists”. The evident hilarious and thought provoking glimpse can be felt by reading the name. The translators have tried to maintain the grace of original text in target text. This text was written by Dr.Ashfaq Ahmed and the purpose behind translating this article into English was to convey Pakistani Literature to Western world by portraying the mystery behind philosophy of “Non Degree Technologists”.The translators have chosen the discipline of applied translation by focusing on the target text theory. The literal method of translation has been used to preserve the spirit of source text by not harming the charm of target text. English language was chosen to translate the Urdu text. English is an international language having the beauty and charm of engrossing any language of the world.
