The major instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire administered to the respondents using stratified sampling technique and the interval data collected were analyzed using simple percentage and Pearson Moment Correlation Analysis. The result of the findings revealed that, that there is a significant relationship between conscientiousness, (RX1 = 547) agreeableness (RX2 =770) and academic performance (p= 0.000) of students in Akwa Ibom State University, Ikot Akpaden/Obio Akpa Campus. Distributive Justice and Employee Turnover among Bank Workers in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria (Published)

The study was designed to examine the relationship between Distributive Justice and Employee Turnover Among Bank Workers in Akwa Ibom State. Ex-post facto design was adopted for the study and a sample of 314 respondents was drawn from the population of 1465. For the objective of the study to be achieved, five hypotheses were formulated and tested. The study utilized triangulation of methodologies (structured questionnaire and interview) as the major instruments for data collection using Taro Yamane’s scientific sampling technique. 314 questionnaires were distributed and 299 were returned. Data collected were analyzed using simple percentage and Ordinal Logistic Regression. Results showed that there is a significant and positive relationship between variables of distributive justice such as unequal distribution, inequitable distribution, mismatched needs and personality traits, and employee turnover variables of voluntary resignation, employee abscondment and employee satisfaction among bank workers in Akwa Ibom State. The finding further revealed that there is no significant relationship between variable of distributive justice such as unjust distribution of responsibilities and employee turnover variable of employee commitment among bank workers in Akwa Ibom State. Consequently, it was recommended that, banks in Akwa Ibom State should introduce fair and equal reward systems for outstanding performances so as to motivate and retain employees. Justice should be fairly distributed among bank workers in order to discourage voluntary resignation. There is need for bank workers to inhibit behaviors that may encourage turnover but rather reattribute such behaviors as a mean of restoring justice. Responsibilities should be justly distributed among bank workers in order to boost employee commitment. Specific attention should be given at the beginning of the employment relationship to firstly establish and agree to personality traits that would benefit both parties in the employment relationship.

A Predictor Become Dysfunctional: An Investigation of the Effect of Workload on the Relationship between Personality and OCB (Published)

Organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) is a topic that has been widely addressed in management research during the past decade, as many have suggested that OCB’s have a crucial role in the success of an organization. Further understanding the nature of its relationship to individual and job context factors allow practitioners to facilitate such behaviors within their organizations. Although certain personality traits are more inclined to exhibit OCB, their capacity to do so is likely to depend on their level of workload. Therefore, to further extend the development of the nomological network associated with OCB, personality factors and the moderating role of workload to this relationship was examined. A stratified sample size of two hundred employees from diverse organizations have been selected. Results of the hierarchical regression analysis revealed that personality traits strongly related to OCBs and the workload negatively interacted to significantly predict OCBs. The results support theory that links personality factors and workload would demonstrates the interactive effect of workload and personality traits in predicting OCB, suggesting that these factors are likely important factors that could be examined in job design efforts to enhance OCB. The moderating role of the workload is demonstrated as a new contribution of this study. Implications of findings and areas for future research also discussed.
