Resilience and Efficiency in Overland Humanitarian Aid Delivery in Nigeria–Chad Corridor (Published)
This study examines resilience and efficiency in overland humanitarian aid delivery within the Nigeria–Chad corridor in the Lake Chad Basin. The region faces persistent insecurity, poor infrastructure, border delays, and displacement, which affect the movement of relief materials. The study explores how humanitarian organizations use overland logistics to deliver essential supplies such as food, medicine, and shelter support to affected populations. It further analyzes how resilience enables supply chains to continue operating under disruptions, while efficiency ensures timely and cost-effective delivery of aid. A qualitative research design was adopted using secondary data from UN reports, NGOs, academic journals, and policy documents. Thematic analysis was used to identify key issues affecting humanitarian logistics performance. Findings show that insecurity, weak coordination, and infrastructural challenges reduce both speed and reliability of aid delivery. The study concludes that balancing resilience and efficiency is essential for improving humanitarian operations in the corridor.
