Human Resources Intellectual Development and Performance of Small Scale Enterprises in Osun State, Nigeria (Published)

This study examined the impact of Human Resources Intellectual Development (HRID) on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) performance in selected manufacturing industries in Osun State., Nigeria. The specific objectives of the study were to determine training and development programs, skill acquisition and employee educational background affect employee productivity. Survey research design was used for the study. The population of the study consisted of all the 46,433 employees in manufacturing SMEs operating in Osun State, Nigeria. A sample of 397 SMEs was selected. Taro Yamane formula was used to determine the sample size. Data was collected from owners, managers and employees through a structured questionnaire. Both descriptive and inferential analyses were adopted in data analysis. Descriptive analysis (mean and standard deviation) were used to summarize data while multiple regression analysis was used to test hypotheses. Results revealed that training and development programs, skill acquisition and employee educational background all had significant positive effects on employee productivity with different level of magnitude. Based on the findings, the study concluded that HRID improves the performance of SMEs in the manufacturing industries in Osun State, Nigeria. Based on conclusion, the study recommended that the management of SMEs in the manufacturing industry in Osun States should increase funding on training and development programs, skill acquisition and encourage employees to raise their level of educational background higher

Effect of Workforce Diversity on Employee Responsiveness: Study of selected public organization in South East, Nigeria (Published)

Workforce diversity is essential for the functioning of organizations, particularly in the context of public organizations. The South East region of Nigeria boasts a heterogeneous workforce, with individuals from many origins making valuable contributions to the public sector. Nevertheless, a significant issue arises with the employees’ limited comprehension and recognition of workforce diversity. This could result in misunderstandings, prejudices, and disputes among employees, ultimately impairing both individual and organizational performance. This study employs a descriptive research methodology to investigate the influence of workforce diversity on employee responsiveness, 2000 respondents were purposively selected across South East, Nigeria. The study enquiries centre around the influence of diversity on prompt communication, problem-solving proficiency, adaptability to work circumstances, and collaboration among employees. The findings indicate that workforce with a variety of backgrounds and viewpoints contribute to a greater number of inventive solutions and imaginative concepts. Moreover, personnel with diverse origins provide varied cultural perspectives and sensitivities, which promote an inclusive atmosphere that supports open communication.

The Impact of a Performance Appraisal and Reward System on Employee Workload Delivery (Published)

Performance appraisal and reward programmes are critical organisational strategies for improving employee performance. The goal is to ensure that employee productivity is sufficient to meet the company’s overall objectives. The performance assessment examines and evaluates an employee’s job performance on a regular basis, while the reward system motivates the individual to carry out his or her tasks. The study looks at how successful performance appraisal and incentive systems are at improving employee performance using both primary and secondary data. Enugu State Civil Service Commission, Enugu State Office of the Head of Service, Enugu State Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, and Enugu State Ministry of Labour and Productivity all contributed 100 participants to this study. A structured questionnaire was distributed to employees of the Enugu State Civil Service Commission, the Enugu State Office of the Head of Service, the Enugu State Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, and the Enugu State Ministry of Labour and Productivity. The data were analysed using SPSS software (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences). The findings show that employee workload delivery is influenced by performance evaluation and compensation (i.e. in the area of timely execution of the task, creating consciousness among employees that they are been watched, paying attention to details)
