Satisfaction of Persons Undergoing Clinical Trials (Published)

In this study, the researcher dealt with the free and explicit consent of the subject of the experiment and pointed to the effect of paying for money in advance on the validity of the satisfaction and the status of the person who is in a state of dependency and exploitation of the attribute or trust and then the researcher studied the tightening of the obligation to displace in the field of clinical trials and the consequent obligation of the experimenter to inform the person subject to the experiment and the method of informing the person subject to the experiment and cases in which it is permissible not to inform the person subject to the experiment and finally the rules related to tightening the content of the obligation to perform And the right of the person subject to experimentation to deny his previous satisfaction.

Knowledge, Behaviour and Perception of the Traders Toward’s Receiving Covid-19 Vaccine in Lapai Local Government Area of Niger State, Nigeria (Published)

This study sought to find out the knowledge, behaviour and perception of traders towards receiving Covid-19 vaccine in Lapai local Government Area of Niger State, Nigeria. Descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. Accidental sampling was used to sample 200 respondents in Lapai daily markets. A self-developed questionnaire was used as research instrument to sample 200 respondents. Descriptive statistics of frequency counts, percentages and mean were used to analyse the research questions. Chi-square goodness-of-fit test was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The majority of traders had adequate knowledge of Covid-19 (c2= 122.280; p <0.05), and conformed moderately to Covid-19 guideline protocol (c2= 18.320; p <0.05). Findings further revealed that there was negative perception of traders in embracing Covid-19 vaccine (c2= 45.880; p <0.05).The perceptions of traders generally were negative and not conforming with Covid-19 guideline protocols and they were not welcoming the vaccine, as they believed it may have side effect after receiving it. Traders concluded that only same vaccine received by the president of Nigeria will be accepted by them. The study recommends amongst others that traders must be enlightened to have adequate knowledge on the virus in other to change their negative behaviours to conform to COVID-19 guideline protocols. The importance of vaccination to the traders and its long time benefits must be emphasized to have Covid-19 free country.

Prevalence and Covid-19 Testing (Published)

An outbreak of pneumonia of unknown etiology in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China was initially reported to the World Health Organization in December 2019.  Global health authorities purportedly identified a novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) which continues to effect most of the world.  Diagnostic testing for SARS-CoV-2 continues to advance and interpreting test results is paramount.  The most commonly used diagnostic test has been the reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction amplification.  Determining test precision not only depends on operating characteristics, sensitivity and specificity, but more importantly on prevalence of the infectious in the population tested.  This paper develops a numerical optimizer (model) to explore the effect of prevalence on surveillance testing accuracy.  Findings herein suggest that large scale COVID-19 surveillance testing should be curbed or eliminated.  Results advocate a more flexible and narrowly targeted approach to testing strategies.

Covid-19 and Brain Damage: Non-Toxic Iron Chelators Can Prevent Adem and Brain Damage by Covid-19 (Published)

Based on the chemical mechanism of degradation of cholesterol and myelin, we would like to propose that non-toxic iron chelators including SP10, natural or artificial lignin derivatives can be the best supplement against COVID-19, especially to prevent brain damage including ADEM.

Nigerians Perspectives on Covid-19 Pandemic and How It Affects Their Lifestyle and Financial Status (Published)

Covid-19 is a viral disease that originated from Wuhan province of China. The virus has rapidly crossed borders, infecting and killing people in many countries including Nigeria. Undoubtedly, the pandemic has massive impact on the activities of Nigerians, including social lifestyle and income. The age-long communal behavior of Nigerians, like attendance to religion gatherings, ceremonies, and sports, has been hampered due to covid-19 pandemic. Also, due to this pandemic, Nigeria´s economy has declined drastically. This study was conducted to understand the perspective of Nigerians about Covid-19, and how it affected their lifestyle and financial status. Method: An online survey was conducted using the combination of few open ended and closed ended questions to gather data from a total of 325 respondents in Nigeria. Results: Majority of the respondents had adequate knowledge about the Covid-19 infection, its preventive measures, and its mode of transmission. Furthermore, over half of the respondents admitted that the pandemic has adversely affected their social lifestyle and financial status. Conclusion: There is need for provision of financial assistance and distribution of palliatives to all Nigerians during this pandemic. The government should also ensure the safety of all citizens, as social vices increase amidst the pandemic. A policy against increment of price of commodities should be established and implemented.

Zinc and Covid-19: Novel Ways to Maintain Optimal Zinc Balance (Published)

The earlier studies have shown that zinc deficiency can hinder host-defense systems to increase the susceptibility to various viral and bacterial infections, and thus in view of the global COVID-19 pandemic, potential protective effect of zinc is of particular interest.  As it has become clear that zinc deficiency is induced by the non-transferrin-bound iron (NTBI) based on the our works, the use of our non-toxic iron chelators can be recommended as the supportive treatment in therapy of COVID-19 infection, because our iron chelators may prevent the zinc deficiency by inhibiting the formation of iron deposition containing much iron and zinc ions through removing or controlling the iron(III) ions in NTBI.

On the Chemical Properties of Traditional Chinese Medicines (Published)

The Chinese government is heavily promoting traditional Chinese medicines (TCM) as treatment for COVID-19 at present, but there are no rigorous trial data to demonstrate that the remedies work.  Based on our recent works, we have elucidated the chemical properties of TCM, and have proposed the scientific origin of “Japan Paradox”.

A scoping review on epidemiology, etiology, transmission, clinical presentation, treatment and management of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) (Published)

Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a highly infectious disease which has posed serious threats to global health. This viral disease was discovered in late December 2019, in Wuhan, China. Infection rates due to the pandemic amounts to over 1 million globally while death rate is over 80,000. The United States, Italy and Spain are epicenters of the disease and have recorded more deaths due to the viral infection than other countries.  Since the virus is spreading worldwide, on March 11, 2020, the WHO officially described the COVID-19 outbreak as a pandemic. The virus is transmitted when people interact with each other for some time in close proximity. Precisely, this review aims to provide the evidence of early findings on the etiology, transmission, symptoms, treatment and management of COVID-19.Studies have recorded Covid-19 infection in asymptomatic patients and in those with visible symptoms. Elderly people, pregnant women, people with underlining illness and compromised immune system are very susceptible to COVID-19 than other categories of people, however, reports of deaths of people without history of underlining illness has led to controversies. The diseased due to the virus should try to seek appropriate medical help and limit their exposure to other unaffected persons. Currently, there are no vaccines for the pandemic, but the FDA has recommended hydroxyl chloroquine as a therapy for COVID-19. The likelihood of transmission can be reduced by practising hygienic measures. Frequent disinfection and cleaning are advised for groups that are at risk of contracting the virus.
