Awareness of Artificial Intelligence for News Production among Journalists in Ebonyi state Nigeria (Published)
This study is focused on extent of awareness of artificial intelligence for news production among journalists in Ebonyi state. The respondents were the practicing journalists in Ebonyi state. The population of the study comprised the 250 registered journalists in the record of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ebonyi state. Following the small number of the study population, census sampling was used. Survey research method was adopted by the researcher in eliciting data. In that case, 250 copies of questionnaire were administered to the practicing journalists in Ebonyi state. Simple percentage and frequency tables were used for data analysis. The study was anchored on diffusion of innovation theory and mediamorphosis theory. The objectives of the study includes: (i) to find out the extent of awareness of artificial intelligence for news production among journalists in Ebonyi state (ii) to find out if journalists in Ebonyi state are open to training to acquire skills on AI for news production (iii) to find out the aspect of news production that journalists in Ebonyi state would prefer AI to be deployed. (iv) to find out the probable fears journalists in Ebonyi state have about AI for news production. The study found among others that all the journalists registered under the aegis of the Nigerian union of journalists (NUJ) in Ebonyi state are aware of the use of artificial intelligence for news production. The study made recommendations
