Security of Information Materials in Libraries

Abstract

This paper focused on the security problems affecting university library materials with examples drawn from Delta State University Library, Abraka. Nigeria. It explored the security problems and the way out in libraries’, described how library materials are mutilated and removed illegally/stolen in different sections of libraries. The causes of theft and mutilation of library materials are enumerated. The effects of the security problems on libraries are highlighted. Among others, the paper recommended installation of security devices in order to help prevent the incidence of theft and mutilation of materials in libraries.
