Using Activity Method to Teach Second Year Diploma Students Selected Topics in Biology: A Case of St. Monica’s College of Education, Mampong (Published)

The purpose of the study was to use the constructivist teaching and learning approach to teach Biology. Four research questions were set to guide the study and the design adopted for the study was a case study. Questionnaire was the instrument used to collect data from one hundred and twenty three students for the study. The research findings helped to conclude that the activity method of teaching Biology helps to improve learning, learning of Biology content had improved and generally the result show that student have positive attitude towards Biology. The result further indicated that activity method of teaching motivates the teacher trainees to learn science.

Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (Stem) Education: A Catalyst for Entrepreneurship and Economic Growth in Nigeria (Published)

Equipping learners with the 21st century skills is the current pursuit of nations of the world wishing to maintain global leadership and cutting-edge economic competitiveness. These nations now see Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education as an option for equipping their up-coming generations with problem solving skills and potentials for becoming innovators and entrepreneurs of tomorrow. This paper explains the concept of Nigerian economic recession and its remote causes. It also explains the STEM education as a meta-discipline which is taught as an integrated subject abroad but is yet to take root in Nigeria. The author presents STEM education as the foundation for innovation, entrepreneurship and work place skill required to boost the economy of Nigeria so as to diversify her economy from oil dependence and combat youth unemployment. It concludes with suggestions of what Nigeria ought to do at this time to reposition STEM education to achieve economic recovery.

The Impact of the Problem-Solving Strategy in Stimulating Students’ Motivation to Learn Science (Published)

The study aimed to identify the impact of problem solving strategy in stimulating motivation of students to learn science, and to achieve the objectives of the study followed the researcher descriptive analytical approach in terms of application of the study tool and data collection and analysis, and the study population of all eighth grade students in the Directorate of Education Jerash. The sample of the study consisted of (30) students of eighth grade in Al-Fadl Ibn Abbas Elementary School for Boys. The study found that there is an impact of problem solving strategy in stimulating students’ motivation to learn science. The problem solving strategy contributes (65%) Encouraging student motivation to learn science, and recommended the researcher to work to mainstream the problem-solving strategy in all regions of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan because of its many benefits stimulate the motivation of students to learn.

The Challenges Faced by Science Teachers in Activating School Laboratories (Published)

The study aimed to identify the most common challenges faced by science teachers in activating the school laboratories. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher followed the analytical descriptive method in terms of applying the study tool and data collection and analysis. The study population consisted of all the teachers of science and educational supervisors in Jerash Education Directorate. There were 15 teachers and five educational supervisors. The study found that there are a number of challenges facing the science teachers in activating the school labs, the most important of which is the low number of classes devoted to teaching science, the researcher recommended the need to work to restructure the distribution of classes of science and increase the time allocated for practical activity.

The Effect of the Cold Call Strategy in Excitability of Students Motivation Basic Stage To Learn Science in Jordan (Published)

The study aims to identify the effect of the cold call strategy in raising the motivation of students in the basic stage in Jordan to learn science. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher followed the analytical descriptive approach in terms of applying the study tool and data collection and analysis. Of the Jerash Educational Directorate, while the sample of the study was ( 30) students, The study concluded that there is an impact of the cold call strategy in raising the motivation of students of basic stage in Jordan to learn science. The researcher recommended conducting training courses for the science teacher to show the importance of cold call strategy in stimulating students’ motivation to learn science.
