Transition metal, cobalt (II) acetate, complexes of salicylaldehyde derived Schiff bases : 2-{[(2- hydroxophenyl) imino] methyl} phenol (OHMP), 2-{[ (2- carboxy- phenyl) imino] methyl} phenol (COOHMP), and anthranilic acid- formaldehyde resin (R-COOHMP) were synthesized and characterized by various analytical and spectroscopic studies ( FT-IR, UV-Visible and 1H NMR ). The Schiff base ligands, formaldehyde chelating resin and their Co(II) complexes were also screened for their urease, α – chymotrypsin, acetylcholinesterse and butylrylcholinesterase inhibition activities. The ligands were found active against two bacterial species: Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, all theligands and complexes were evaluated for their thermal degradation studies using TG- DTA analytical methods in static air
