Drivers of Local Community Involvement in Tourism Development in Awash Melka Kunture Prehistoric Site, Central Ethiopia (Published)
Tourism development seeks robust local communities’ participation epitomizing a marker for its sustainability. Hence, the central aim of this article was to analyze derivers of local community involvement in tourism development of Awash Melka Kunture prehistoric Site of Ethiopia. Quantitative research and descriptive research design; purposive and proportionate stratified sampling technique was used to select the samples of 212 households. Data were collected from three kebele and one Town in Kersa Malima District. A binary logit model was used to identify the drivers that affect household’s engagement in tourism development. Our findings indicate that the involvement of local community in tourism is associated positively with level of awareness, social status of household, education level of household and gender of household. On the contrary, Age of household, size of land owned by household, number of livestock and length of years lived in the area correlated negatively with involvement of local community.

An Assessment of Socio-cultural Heritage Complementing Sustainable Ecotourism in Selected Coastal Communities of Lagos State (Published)
Tourist locations are valued tourism assets that motivate travellers and distinguish destinations from others; one of the pull factors responsible for this movement is the desire to explore the socio-cultural identities and cultural heritage of the identified communities, which can sustain ecotourism development in the coastal communities. The tourist activities, therefore, are expected to have a significant impact on the host community. This research, therefore, aimed at assessing the socio-cultural heritage complementing ecotourism in the selected coastal areas. Lagos State is divided into five divisions, and the divisions are further divided into 20 local government areas (LGAs), of which three of these LGAs are selected as coastal areas for this study, which are Badagry, Lekki and Epe. The selected host community serves as the sample population for this research, personal interview and questionnaire were used to elicit information from the respondents during peak periods of tourism activities, specifically during December 2020 festive period. Due to the depth to which the study intends to analyse the data, 500 questionnaires were administered to the study area, but 455 were retrieved and considered valid for the research. The questionnaires were distributed using purposive sampling. Descriptive statistics were carried out using weighted mean and thematic analysis, while chi-square test was employed for the inferential statistics. The study concludes that socio-cultural heritage complementing tourism in coastal areas is a source of funding to preserve and conserve cultural heritage, thereby giving back cultural price, revitalize customs and tradition as well as open door for cultural sharing and learning.

Socio Economic Significance of Women Participation in Tourism Development and Promotion: A Case Study of New Bussa Community Area of Niger State (Published)
This study focuses on socio economic significance of women participation in tourism development and promotion in Bussa. Sampling techniques that were used in this research work include cluster and random sampling methods. New Bussa community was divided into four areas. Hundred questionnaires were administered to the study areas to get the data needed; The data collected was subjected to statistically computation using descriptive analysis such as table, and simple percentage. The results highlighted some types of leisure they engage in and whether their works disturb them. 65% of the respondents agreed that they participate in leisure activities followed by those that chose at times represent 30%. On the activities they engaged in 50% of the respondents have indoor as their leisure engagement while 31.6% of the respondents engage in Outdoor activities. On whether their jobs affect leisure activities 61.6% of the respondents were of the opinion that work does not disturb them. While on whether women help in community when they arrived, 63.3% of the respondents supported yes option while 31.6% of the respondents supported fairly. On the issue of women employment in the community 81.6% of the Respondents agreed that women are being given employment while the results also indicate the social significance of women participation in leisured based on the case of social enlightenment of women, 90% of the respondents agreed that it socializes them while 1.6% said they were not sure. On the issue of well-being 90% of the respondents agreed that participation of women bring their well-being while 3.3% claimed they were not agree and 1.6% said it is fairly. Challenges It shows that women are having challenges in leisure and tourism participation the respondents agreed that they could not be involved in tourism because of financial challenges, 85% and religious activities, 68.3% while 13.3% of the respondents claimed that it used to be sometimes while 1.6% of the respondents claimed that the traveling is not encouraging That the women participation should be adequately funded both with the public and private sectors to boost the economic and social life of Bussa people. However the results recommend that if tourism is to be promoted and to be internationally recognized the issue of women must not be left out in all ramifications.

Infrastructure Capitals and Community Transformation in Tourism Destinations, Southwest Nigeria (Published)
The study analysed the influence of tourism infrastructure on community transformation in Southwest Nigeria. One most prominent tourism destination was purposively selected from each state of six; Oyo – Agodi Gardens, Ogun – Olumo Rock, Osun – Osun Osogbo Groove, Ondo – Idanre Hills, Ekiti – Ikogosi Warm Springs, and Lagos – National Theatre. Simple random sampling technique was employed to select thirty residents from each destination, giving a total of one hundred and eighty respondents. The results revealed social factors had Cronbach’s Alpha values of social (0.799) with variance 10.310%; political factors (.811) with variance 9.237%; natural factors (0.781) with variance 9.103%; economic factors (.614) with variance 10.117%; physical factors (.749) with variance 10.312%; human factors (.721) with variance 10.003%; and cultural factor (.611) with variance explained as 9.041%. The results further revealed that social capital (B = 0.164; p<0.05); physical (B = 0.174; p<0.05); human (B = 0.184; p>0.05); and natural capital (B = 0.159; p<0.05) showed significance with community transformation. While, economic capital (B = 0.113; p>0.05); political factors (B = 0.181; p>0.05); and cultural factor (B = 0.130; p>0.05) showed no significant prediction but all had t values greater 1. Infrastructure capitals (social, physical, and natural) were found to have significant relationship with community transformation. It is recommended that infrastructure capital should be set up as a ‘service industry’ to providing goods that meet customers’ demands in order to forestall irregularities and delay in supply for rapid and optimal sustainable transformation.

Private sector remittances and tourism development in Calabar, Cross River State. (Published)
This study examined Private Sector remittances and tourism development in Calabar, Cross River State. Data for the study was collected through participatory interviews, records from Cross River State Internal Revenue Service, Cross River State Tourism Bureau, journals and textbooks. The data generated were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as tables, charts simple percentages. It was observed that the decline in revenue remittances by private sector to government for tourism development was as a result of government policy on taxation in Calabar, Cross River State. Among recommendations made was that Government should provide a legislation to encourage the private sector organizations to do business and most importantly reduce taxes as these may hinder tourism development.

The Studying of the Key Factors Affecting Cantho Tourism Development (Published)
In recent years, Cantho tourism is on the rise, the number of international tourists as well as domestic tourists increasing quickly. Cantho tourism is becoming more and more known in the world, many destinations in the Can tho are voted as the favorite destination of international tourists such as Ninh Kieu, Cai Rang… Cantho tourism is increasingly receiving the attention of the whole society. The quality and competitiveness of tourism in Cantho city are issues that receive a lot of attention and discussion. A multi-dimensional approach is to assessing tourism quality that will contribute to the formation of sound solutions to improve the quality and competitiveness of tourism in Cantho City. Therefore, the researchers want to find out the key factors affecting Cantho tourism development. Data surveyed 500 tourists in Cantho City. The surveying time is from 7/2017 to 2/2018. Data processed by SPSS 20.0 and method used by the multiple linear regression analysis. The research results showed there are three key factors affecting Cantho tourism development with level significance 5 percent.

The ecological system of our environment has always being in focal point as regard to the development of human and nature. The determinant of nature and environmental hazards is man and their activity, the topography of the environment has its role to play and in this research; the causes and management of natural disaster will be examined and the contributors to this disaster will be considered. The nature of natural disaster will also be x-rayed, through the effects of environmental hazard in human activities. Literatures will be reviewed in the areas of development, environment, infrastructures and superstructure of natural disaster; it reveals the contribution of natural disaster and its impact on development. Structured questionnaires were used for data collection. Data collected were analyzed using table and simple percentage analysis and chart. Result showed that the main contributing factor for to natural disaster is man and its activities, through environmental degradation and misuse. Therefore, based on the results of the study, it is recommended that government policies should be up held and forced by the persons concerned in the areas of preserving the nature.

Tourism Development And Economic Growth Nexus: Nigeria’s Experience (Published)
Nigeria has over 7000 tourist centres and with the concerted efforts of government, tourism is becoming an essential part of the country’s economy. The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) in 2014 also envisaged a growth of 6 percent per annum for period of ten years for the Nigerian tourism industry. In view of this, the study focusses on empirical investigation of the contribution of the rapidly developing tourism sector to economic growth in Nigeria. The popular time series data for the period spanning from 1995 to 2013 was analyzed with econometric view statistical package. The findings reveal a unilateral causality and positive long-run between tourism development and economic growth. The tourism-led growth is also thus confirmed for Nigeria. The study recommends adequate security, increase investment in infrastructure and tourist centres to boost tourism activities in the country.

SOCIO-ECONOMIC IMPACT OF TOURISM DEVELOPMENT IN THE FOREST COMMUNITY OF IKPE ORO, URUE OFFONG ORUKO LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF AKWA IBOM STATE (Published)
This study on socio-economic impact of tourism development in the forest community of Ikpe Oro community, Urue Offong Oruko Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom state is aimed at establishing the socio-economic impact of tourism development in the forest community in the study area. The correlational research design was adopted. To achieve the purpose of this study, two null hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. The simple random sampling technique was adopted in selecting three communities while the multi-stage stratified random sampling technique and accidental sampling technique was used to select the one hundred and fifty (150) community members used for the study. A fifteen (15) items four points likert scale questionnaire was the instrument used for data collection. To test the hypotheses, Pearson product moment correlation statistical analysis technique was used for data analysis. The results obtained from analysis of data revealed that, there is a significant relationship between employment opportunities and improvement in infrastructural facilities and tourism development in the forest community of Ikpe oro, Urue Offong Oruko Local Government Area of Akwa ibom State
