Effectiveness of Socio-Culture based Community Involvement Strategy in Improving Knowledge, Attitude, and Practices Regarding Tuberculosis among Peoples in Tapanuli Selatan, Indonesia (Published)
Tuberculosis is a disease of major public health concern in Indonesia where there is a significant increase in mortality. This disease is also one of the main causes of death. The increasing incidence of TB and the low number of treatments is a big threat to TB control and poses a great risk to increased transmission to the general public and an increase in multi-drug resistant TB. Previous studies have reported that knowledge, attitudes and practices regarding TB among the community are bad and are considered a serious challenge for TB control programs. This study evaluates the effectiveness of the health intervention program developed in increasing knowledge, attitudes and practices among the people of South Tapanuli who still uphold customary values.
