A summary of the history of mechanical industry and education integration in China, research development, application characteristics, industry’s integration efficiency, and mechanical professionals’ education and training is presented. The topics are analyzed from six aspects, including the education reform, the construction of major courses, the internship and training system, the talent cultivation model, and the development of an industry and education integration mechanism. Also, the future directions are discussed.
